Honoring the legacy of our beloved mother and grandmother, Basima Hammad Rasheed.
Honoring the legacy of our beloved mother and grandmother, Basima Hammad Rasheed.
Verily we belong to Allah (SWT), and verily to Him do we return.
Basima Abdul Aziz Hammad, ام دين (Um Dean) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, and friend to all returned to Allah (SWT) on January 1, 2021. She was a pillar of our family and her community.
(Um Dean) ام دين loved creating beauty around her for others to enjoy, whether it be through her incredible cooking, her garden, or her warm and generous heart. She loved her family, and was the most caring and dedicated wife, mother, and grandma.
Trusting Allah’s (SWT) plan for her she courageously battled brain cancer for 13 months. She never wavered or doubted her faith. Throughout her battle, she remained grateful and constantly said Alhammdulilah (Thank God). In her final moments she was surrounded by her husband, children, son-in-laws, daughter-in law, and grandchildren listening to the words of the Quran, inshAllah lifting ام دين to Jannatul Firdous. We pray that Allah (SWT) fills her grave with the beautiful perfume of Jannah and ascends her to Jannatul Firdous.
We ask that you continue to make Dua for (Abu Dean & Um Dean) ام دين و ابو دين, their children, and grandchildren. Please say al-Fatiha for her and ask Allah to grant us sabr as our hearts are broken from the enormous loss of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Ya ام دين (Um Dean) may Allah (SWT) have mercy on her soul. May Allah (SWT)grant her the highest level of paradise.
The Basima Foundation was created in loving memory of my beautiful grandmother and her compassionate and kind nature to all she encountered and loved in her lifetime. She was passionate about Palestine and education. Her name will be remembered in the scholarships and donations which will be provided to support Palestinian female high school students and their pursuit of higher education.
The Basima Foundation is modeled in the spirit and legacy of our dear late mother and grandmother, Basima Hammad Rasheed. The Basima Foundation is dedicated to empower and cultivate Palestinian female high school students and their pursuit of higher education through scholarships and mentorships.
My name is Jannah Khalaf, and I am the granddaughter of the incredible woman who inspired this foundation, Basima Hammad Rasheed. Our mission statement represents the core values and aspirations of the Basima Foundation: To empower and cultivate Palestinian female high school students in their pursuit of higher education through scholarships and mentorships. We strive to honor the spirit and legacy of my late grandmother, Basima, who dedicated her life to supporting the Palestinian community, refugees, and especially its women.
My grandmother's passion for education, equality, and her deep-rooted love for her homeland of Palestine drove her to work tirelessly to uplift and empower young women in her community, as well as those affected by displacement and conflict. She believed that the true power of a society lies in the education and growth of its women, and today, we carry that belief forward in her name.
Please make checks payable to the Basima Foundation. Your support and contributions will enable us to support Palestinian high school female students pursue their dream. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
