Verily we belong to Allah (SWT), and verily to Him do we return.
Basima Abdul Aziz Hammad, ام دين (Um Dean) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, and friend to all returned to Allah (SWT) on January 1, 2021. She was a pillar of our family and her community.
(Um Dean) ام دين loved creating beauty around her for others to enjoy, whether it be through her incredible cooking, her garden, or her warm and generous heart. She loved her family, and was the most caring and dedicated wife, mother, and grandma.
Trusting Allah’s (SWT) plan for her she courageously battled brain cancer for 13 months. She never wavered or doubted her faith. Throughout her battle, she remained grateful and constantly said Alhammdulilah (Thank God). In her final moments she was surrounded by her husband, children, son-in-laws, daughter-in law, and grandchildren listening to the words of the Quran, inshAllah lifting ام دين to Jannatul Firdous. We pray that Allah (SWT) fills her grave with the beautiful perfume of Jannah and ascends her to Jannatul Firdous.
We ask that you continue to make Dua for (Abu Dean & Um Dean) ام دين و ابو دين, their children, and grandchildren. Please say al-Fatiha for her and ask Allah to grant us sabr as our hearts are broken from the enormous loss of our beloved wife and mother.
Ya ام دين (Um Dean) may Allah (SWT) have mercy on her soul. May Allah (SWT)grant her the highest level of paradise.
The foundation was created as a Sadika Jariya in loving memory of my beautiful grandmother and her compassionate and kind nature to all she encountered and loved in her lifetime. She was passionate about Palestine and education. Her name will be remembered in the scholarships and donations which will be provided to support Palestinian female high school students and their pursuit of higher education.
"I am so blessed to have had my grandmother as my grandmother. She truly was one of a kind and to know her was to love and adore her. Losing my Teta was the hardest thing my family has gone through. Establishing The Basima Foundation as a Sadika Jariya for her is a testament
of my love."

"If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my mothers arms and tell her
they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her and when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day.
But there's an ache in my heart that will never go away."
